Lantern Festival

It’s a magical week in Hong Kong and we are looking forward to seeing the moon for Mid-Autumn festival! Victoria Park is all ready for the massive influx of people and the lanterns this year do not disappoint. There is a gorgeous section dedicated to Hong Kong street food, with Dim Sum, waffles, fishballs, curry and even a popcorn machine. A geodesic dome holds hundreds of water bottles in syncronised light formation – perhaps we are finally making a statement here about recycling! Animals from around the world make an appearance and there are puppets, stage shows, lantern making demonstrations and even the Tin Hau Fire Dragon. We are feeling very lucky to be part of such a vibrant community with its beautiful customs. The lanterns stay in the park for the weekend and the Fire dragon makes appearances every night at 7.30 until Friday. So – if you want to see a 48kg dragon, made of 72,000 incense sticks, come and take a look!
