Mid-Autumn Festival in Hong Kong

Our Lantern Festival, 2012 was such a treat. We caught a fire dragon dance – and I had great fun with the light trails. We watched the moon rise, on a beautiful, clear night.

We loved being part of the celebrations in Victoria Park. All the families stake out their little area with lights, lanterns and glowsticks. (We also used a few handy wine bottles!) I love how they seemed to have privacy in the crowds. The lanterns were beautiful and the light show was amazing. Until next year…!

So…Mid-Autumn Festival is on the way, and we are getting excited.  Even the website has lanterns on! Also known as Moon Festival or Lantern Festival, it signals the start of the cooler, less humid weather. Also, given our location, on Victoria Park, it is one of the most beautiful times of the year here. It’s such a treat to take photographs around the time – the  creativity which goes into the lanterns is exceeded annually and it’s such a sweet, family festival.

It also means the start of my favourite time of the year – the best season for location shoots! It’s the perfect time to get outside and take beautiful pictures.

Here are a few pictures from last year’s lanterns in Tsim Sha Tsui’s Cultural Centre, and Victoria Park.
